Getting Started

Getting Started provides a summary of the basic steps you must perform to begin using Trusted Access Manager in your network. Because Getting Started is meant to be used side-by-side with Trusted Access Manager, it will be most useful if you install the application first. If you have not already done this, refer to the installation instructions in the Installation Help topic, install Trusted Access Manager, then come back to Getting Started.

Once the application is installed, and you have read the Release Notes, you should review the information in the Trusted Access Manager Concepts Help topic. You will then be ready to follow the steps below to begin using Trust Access Manager in your network.

Explore Trusted Access Manager Features

Now that you have set up your Security Domains, you can start exploring some of Trusted Access Manager's features:

Set Options Use the Options window (Tools > Options) to set suite-wide options and options just for the Trusted Access Manager application.
Server Information The Server Information window lets you view and configure certain NetSight Server functions, including management of client connections, database backup and restore, locks, and licenses. It also provides access to the server log and server statistics.
Monitor End-Systems Use the End-Systems tab to monitor end-system connection information for a single Trusted Access Gateway, all gateways, or all the gateways in a Security Domain. You can view end-system events and the health results from an end-system's latest scan.
MAC Address Locking MAC Locking lets you lock a MAC address to a specific switch/port so that an end-system is restricted to a certain location. Use the MAC Locking tab to view and configure locked MAC addresses.
Create Configuration Templates Trusted Access Manager comes with four system-defined configuration templates that let you quickly assign a configuration to a domain or an override rule. You can view and edit these templates by selecting Tools > Manage Configuration Templates from the menu bar. In addition, you can define your own templates to use in your Security Domains and override rules.
Add User Overrides Create a user override to define authentication and scanning requirements for a specific end-system, based on the user name.
Add MAC Overrides Create a MAC override to define authentication and scanning requirements for a specific end-system, based on a MAC address. You can also create MAC overrides based on a MAC OUI for end-systems such as IP phones or printers.
