Actions Tab

The Actions tab allows you to view and change the actions associated with a rule. A rule has two main parts: Traffic Description and Actions. Traffic Description identifies the type of traffic to which the rule pertains. Actions specify whether the traffic will be assigned class of service, access control (VLAN membership), or both. Any additions or changes you make to this tab must be enforced in order to take effect.

If you modify an enabled rule's actions, Policy Manager checks for conflicts with other rules in the services and roles with which the newly modified rule is associated. See Conflict Checking for more information.

To display the Actions tab, select a rule in the left panel's Services tab, and select the Action tab in the right panel.

Click the graphic for more information.

Class of Service
Use this area to select a class of service to associate with the rule. Policy Manager lets you define classes of service that each include an 802.1p priority, and optionally an IP type of service (ToS/DSCP) value, rate limits, and transmit queue configuration. You can then assign a class of service as a classification rule action. See Getting Started with Class of Service and How to Create a Class of Service for more information.

To choose a class of service for the rule, select the CoS checkbox. This opens the Classes of Service Selection View, where you can choose a class of service or create a new one. If you want to change an existing class of service, click the CoS Select button, select a class of service, and click OK.

CoS
When checked, traffic defined in the rule's Traffic Description is assigned to the selected class of service. When not checked, class of service is disabled.
Select
Click Select to open the Classes of Service Selection View, where you can select a class of service for the rule, or change the current class of service.
Access Control
Use this area to assign access control (a VLAN) to be associated with the rule.
Access Control
To enable access control for the rule, select this checkbox. You can permit traffic to be forwarded, deny traffic altogether, or contain traffic to a VLAN.
Permit Traffic
This option allows traffic to be forwarded with the port's assigned VID.
Deny Traffic
If this option is selected, traffic will automatically be sent to a discard VLAN. If no discard VLANs exist, a blank Discard VLANs Selection View appears. There you can create and select a new discard VLAN to use. If there is more than one discard VLAN from which to choose, the Deny Traffic Select button is available. This opens the Discard VLANs Selection View, where you can choose a different default discard VLAN.
Contain To VLAN
This option contains traffic to a specific VLAN. It automatically opens the VLANs Selection View, where you can choose a contain VLAN. If a contain VLAN is already selected, you can select another one by clicking the Contain To VLAN Select button.
Select Button (Deny)
This button is available if you have selected Deny Traffic and there is more than one Discard VLAN from which to choose. It opens the Discard VLANs Selection View, where you can select a different Discard VLAN.
Select Button (Contain)
Lets you change the VLAN specified for the Contain to VLAN option. Opens the Contain VLANs Selection View, where you can choose a different VLAN.
