E2200 Plug and Play or Full Duplex

HELP: Board Views, Hardware Tables.

The E2200 Series DNI cards support the following Remote Boot Proms:

The E2200 series DNI cards do not have any jumper or switch settings. The Dual Chip models have a connector J1 on the board that is used for internal Cabletron use only.

CAUTION: Placing a shunt on this connector will cause the DNI to loose its EPROM settings and require the DNI Card to be returned to Cabletron.

QUICKSET

All settings are software selectable through the Plug and Play specification, or via the QuickSet Utility supplied on the software installation diskette. The E2200 complies with the Plug and Play specification and will work in a Plug and Play ready PC. If your PC is NOT a Plug and Play machine, then use the QuickSet Utility to software select the appropriate paramters.

Please Note: QuickSet will NOT override the Plug and Play paremeters if the DNI card is used in a Plug and Play machine. If you have conflicts with other devices and need to override Plug and Play, download ICUWIN.ZIP or ICODOS.ZIP from the FTP site. These programs are the Windows and DOS versions, respectively, of Intel's INTEL CONFIGURATION UTILITY, which can override Plug and Play settings.

Please Note: Some single chip and dual chip assemblies have the same part number. The revision of the assembly is denoted by two charaters in the serial number. The single chip E22's will be DB revision. Prior to DB means dual chip, and DB or later single chip. Also, with the release of the V2.02 Installer Disk and above, one set of drivers supports both single and dual chip models of E2200 DNI cards.

INSTALLATION HINT

You may need to install the E2200 Plug and Play DNI card in a non-plug and play PC. Before inserting the E2200 DNI card into the PC, run system software (such as C:\DOS\MSD.EXE) to search for free I/O Base Addresses, IRQ Interrupts, and DMA channels. Once you know these parameters install the E2200 DNI card in the PC and run the E2200 Quickset Utility to make any modifications to the default settings.

FULL DUPLEX OPERATION

The E2200 Series adapters can operate in both Standard Ethernet (10Mbps) mode, or Full-Duplex Switche Ethernet (20Mbps) mode and is designed to comply with the standards set by the Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet Consortium (FDSE). In order to provide a full-duplex service based on existing IEEE architecture, these prerequisites must be met:
