Success Stories
Secure Networks Single Sign-On is
SAP Certified! (pdf) Real-time communication and collaboration are critical in today’s competitive business environment, and it is essential that an organization’s technology infrastructure be as tightly integrated as possible. Standards-based interoperability is not always enough. True peace of mind comes from knowing that key components of different vendors have been tested and verified to work together in mission-critical networks. Guaranteeing seamless interoperability with SAP, Secure Networks Single Sign-On Solution is certified by the Integration and Certification Center (ICC) of SAP AG as an SAP Certified Integration.

Deploy a Secure Infrastructure—
that’s Easy to Use and Administer
Yet the process of authentication and authorization can be complicated and cumbersome as each application relies on its own unique database or directory, and its own unique user log-on. Unfortunately, users and their profiles must be entered and synchronized dynamically, increasing the operating costs associated with change management. And, with a number of passwords to remember, users often rely on what is easiest, making it simple for unwanted users to gain access. In fact, the high level of human intervention required makes the process less secure overall. With the Single Sign-On Solution, access to different systems—operating system, network and individual applications, including SAP—is possible with one password, for a system that is less complicated to administer and less cumbersome to use. Single Sign-On uses IEEE standard 802.1X user authentication at the switch port. When the user logs in, the network identifies the user’s “Role” within the organization and the “Services” available from the network infrastructure, and then dynamically assigns a set of “Rules” based on the user’s role, making access control and application prioritization possible. These Roles, Services and Rules are leveraged to build the appropriate configuration in NetSight™ Atlas Policy Manager— Enterasys’ graphical, easy-to-use, policymanagement tool—for an infrastructure that reacts dynamically to the requirements of the user who is connecting to it. With Single Sign-On, authentication and authorization can be administered and maintained from a central resource, increasing security. After an incident, for example, access to all critical resources can be blocked immediately. In addition, operating costs can be reduced because change management is simplified. Users for all platforms can be added or deleted with a single action. At the same time, user access is made easier. With one log-in, users can sign on to several systems at the same time. |
