Course Overview: Within this course, students will learn methods to properly plan, deploy, configure, secure, and manage their network access control accessibility via the Enterasys NAC solution.  These techniques are reinforced by understanding the numerous assessment models, inherent security capabilities, and reporting capabilities within the Enterasys NAC product family.  Within the Enterasys NAC course, students will gain hands on experience by performing real world tasks in a robust lab environment including installation, configuration, deployment and optimization of Enterasys NAC, creating custom assessment methods, as well as integration of Enterasys NAC into an Assisted Remediation solution.

Course Prerequisites:

Students should possess an understanding of network fundamentals, traffic classifications, and general network management concepts, as well as network security concepts and technologies.  Enterasys recommends the following courses prior to enrolling in the Enterasys NAC course: Enterprise Switching & Enterprise Management

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will have gained the knowledge to best utilize all the existing capabilities within the Enterasys Sentinel product family to both effectively and efficiently secure their enterprise network.

Area of focus within the class involves:

  • Enterasys NAC Architecture – Introduction and overview Enterasys NAC architecture including Authorization, Vulnerability Assessment and Assisted Remediation capabilities as well as the three different types of deployment models: End System Authorization only, End System Authorization with Assessment and End System Authorization with Assessment and Assisted Remediation.
  • Trusted Access Gateway – Topics include installation, configuration and deployment of the Trusted Access Gateway (TAG) component
  • Assessment Integration – Overview and integration of the assessment scanners including installation, plug-in configuration, Assessment Agents, and deployment.
  • Management Configuration – Configuration of the NetSightTM Console management utility including communication parameters (SNMP v3), Trusted Access Gateway integration, Trap Receiver configuration, Assessment Server integration as well as RADIUS server configuration.
  • Trusted Access Manager – Introduction and overview of the Trusted Access Manager (TAM) as well as integration steps into NetSight Console, Security Domain configuration and manipulation, TAG Appliance, RADIUS Server and Assessment Server configuration

Enterasys NAC is targeted for those users that have an understanding of Network Access Control technologies, Enterasys NetSight NMS and the embedded Policy Based Architecture and now require a more detailed understanding of the Enterasys NAC solution in order to effectively perform their respective functions.  Ideal candidates for the Enterasys NAC course are Network Security Administrators or Systems Integration Specialists who are tasked with the responsibility of installing, configuring and operating a NAC solution for their network domains.  Upon completion of this course, your employees will have gained the ability to provide insight through real world lab exercises regarding the implementation, operation and management of the Enterasys network access control solution, utilizing Enterasys NAC.  In addition, students will have achieved required the working knowledge to become Enterasys Security Systems Engineer-NAC (ESSE-N) certified.
