| Course Overview: |
Within this course, students will learn methods to properly plan, deploy, configure, secure, and manage their wireless network infrastructure. These techniques are reinforced by utilizing the numerous management applications and security functionalities within the Enterasys wireless switching product family. Within the Enterprise Secure Wireless course, students will gain hands on experience by performing real world tasks in a robust lab environment including configuring access points, implementing security techniques including rogue AP detection and countermeasures, as well as managing your wireless network. |

Students should possess an understanding of network fundamentals, traffic classifications, and general network management concepts, as well as traditional wireless networking products, concepts and technologies. |

Upon completion of this course, students will have gained the knowledge to best utilize all the existing capabilities within the Enterasys Wireless Switching Product family to both effectively and efficiently run their enterprise wireless network. |

Area of focus within the class involves:
- Wireless Switching Product Overview — An overview of traditional wireless implementations compared to the distributed model, RoamAbout components, system architectural overview, security implementation considerations, and wireless switch planning and management.
- Planning Tool — Introduction and overview of the Wireless Switch planning tool, importing diagrams (CAD, JPEG, etc.), assignments of RF object values, inserting areas, configuration of base parameters for placement calculations, adjusting of automated configurations, and running work orders.
- Configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting methods - Installation of RASM, firmware upgrading, converting DAP's, QuickStart and Discovery methods. Detailed overview, configuration and implementation of an Open Access WLAN, MAC Authentication including WEP Encryption, Web Portal Authentication, IEEE 802.1x Authentication, Location & Traffic Policy (ACL's), Rogue Detection and Countermeasures, adding DAP's to the Plan and Inter-DAP Roaming, and GuestPass are also covered
